Hudson Maness
viola
Bio
Hudson Maness is a freelance violist and music teacher based in Montreal. In addition to performing in orchestras across the United States and Canada, Hudson has participated in such orchestral festivals as the Texas Music Festival, the Trentino Music Festival, the Tanglewood Institute, and the Montecito Music Festival. As violist of the Lyra Quartet during his time at McGill, he traveled to Tuckamore Music Festival and to Garth Newel Music Center as an Emerging Artist Fellow.
Teaching is one of Hudson's primary passions. He teaches violin, viola, beginning piano, and music theory to students aged 5-70. Having studied string pedagogy with Mimi Zweig and having held TA positions at Luzerne Music Center, Western Academy of Music, and Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, Hudson strives to foster a supportive and non-judgemental learning environment where students feel encouraged to develop their unique artistic skills.
Hudson received his Master of Music under André Roy at McGill University and his Bachelor of Music from Indiana University Bloomington under Stephen Wyrczynski. Outside of music, Hudson loves coffee, chess, reading, and writing. He is currently writing a fantasy trilogy, and his current favorite works to read include The Count of Monte Cristo and Anna Karenina.
